About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Technology Servicesprovides effective technology leadership, strategy, and expertise through proactive engagement with the University and its partners, with the goal to deliver purposeful and reliable technology systems in line with the expectations and to meet the strategic objectives of the University and its customers. The work unit consists of broad functional areas including Infrastructure Services, Service Desk & Desktop Support, Application Services Management and Innovation & Delivery Team.

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer, known locally as an Analyst Programmer to take our software used by student, staff and the broader community to the next level. In this role,you will work alongside several software engineers in the Innovation and Delivery Team developing high quality solutions based on client specifications. Also, there is an opportunity to have a huge impact in the future of the university’s data architecture and processes.

Your core responsibilities include:

  • Liaise with clients to design quality solutions that meet their requirements.
  • Provide leadership in the analysis of system design and development.
  • Develop complex solutions in a flexible working environment.
  • Undertake testing and quality assurance processes to ensure the quality of implemented solutions.
  • Provide diagnosis and problem resolution as needed.

About you

You will bring degree level qualifications in Software Engineering, Computer Science or industry experience and a thorough working knowledge ofdata management and systems integration technologies, API design, and agile development methodologies.You will be passionate about the changing development landscape and learning new skills as needed to meet project milestones.

You will have technical skills in some or all of the following

  • Languages: C#, VB.NET, SQL, Groovy, JavaScript
  • Databases: Oracle, MSSQL, Snowflake
  • ELT tools: Boomi,SSIS
  • Web API: SOAP,REST
  • Third party integrations: Aurion, Blackboard, TerminalFour, Technology One

Salary and benefits

This position is:

  • Full-time, continuing (permanent) 
  • HEW Level 7. The base salary ranges from $96,088 - $104,376 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $122,119.
  • Located at either Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast or Lismore. The successful candidate can negotiate their preferred location. All regions offer the very best of an Australian coastal and regional lifestyle. Generous relocation support is available for the successful candidate if relocating to one of these regions to commence in this role.
