The Reader in Public Value Management will play a leadership role in launching and establishing the success of the Centre for Organisational Impact (CfOI) at the University of Central Lancashire. CfOI has been created to become a Centre of regional, national, and international excellence in working with large-scale organisations to achieve impact for their stakeholders, stockholders, and society. The Centre will focus on the achievement of the Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) perspectives of research partnerships, working with business, and working with the public and the third sector. It is anticipated that this Readership will be linked to either the Innovation and Enterprise or Research pathways within the university.

Intellectually, CfOI will build on public value management research (see https://rowman.com/ISBN/9781786612106/Public-Value-Management-Institutional-Design-and-Decision-for-the-Common-Good) and its application in real-world settings for large organisations. The Centre will grow to develop and disseminate innovative and multidisciplinary approaches to organisational impact in business, financial, political, societal, and environmental fields. To enable this growth, we are recruiting for academic and professional roles to the Centre, also including: Reader in Organisational Impact, Knowledge Exchange Scholar, Project Manager and Project Officer.

The Reader in Public Value Management will be responsible to the Head of Executive Education and Leadership Hub for the development of the Centre’s profile and meeting impact, income, and KEF related research metrics. The post will contribute to knowledge exchange and research in the sphere of policy science and political science, and institutional design for public value. The post is funded by Westlakes Research Ltd. and will therefore contribute directly to its charitable objects to achieve public benefit.

You will provide academic support for programmatic knowledge exchange and research focusing on public value management. You will contribute actively to the development of a vibrant knowledge exchange and research environment and to the development of a strategy underpinning the sustainability of world-class knowledge exchange and research at the university.

Company

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) was founded in Preston in 1828 as the Institution for the Diffusion of Knowledge.  Since those early days it has transitioned into one of the UK’s leading, modern universities with a student body comprising some 120 nations and an overall learning community approaching 38,000.

Throughout its development ‘Ex solo ad solem’, or in translation, ‘From the Earth to the Sun’, has been its motto – helping talented people from all walks of life to make the most of their potential. Staff at UCLan pride themselves on putting the needs of students at the centre of everything they do and in 2014 this shared core value was highlighted when the University achieved IIP Gold status.

In 2015 the Centre for World University Rankings placed UCLan in the top 3.8 percent of all worldwide universities and over the coming years UCLan’s £200 million Campus Masterplan development will create a truly world-class educational environment that will propel the University to new levels of excellence.
