About CIW

The ANU College of Asia & the Pacific (CAP) leads intellectual engagement with the Asia-Pacific region through research, teaching and contributions to public debate, and seeks to set the international standard for scholarship concerning the region. The College hosts the largest number of regional experts and specialist academic programs in the English-speaking world, and plays a vital role in informing public policy and Australia's intellectual engagement with the societies, cultures and economies of Asia and the Pacific.

The Opportunity

CIW is seeking to appoint an academic at either Level B (Lecturer) or Level C (Senior Lecturer). The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research that deepens our understanding of the Chinese world, with a focus on China’s political economy.

The Level B (Lecturer) or Level C (Senior Lecturer) will be a member of CIW, which is the hub for Chinese Studies across the ANU campus. They will also have a formal attachment to one of the University’s Colleges, appropriate for their discipline and research expertise.

Our Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will hold a doctorate, or be close to completion of a PhD, in a relevant field. Applicants should have a track record of fieldwork and the ability to undertake research using Mandarin Chinese, where these qualities are relevant to the area of research. This record will be evidenced by internationally-competitive peer-reviewed research outputs and by other measures such as demonstrated impact, awards and participation in research projects.

This position is a 5-year fixed-term appointment.
