Job Description
SIA-NUS Digital Aviation Lab at the National University of Singapore (NUS) offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Research Engineer (UX Designer) in Work Package 4. The work package focuses on developing innovations in the following key strategic areas related to passengers’ inflight experience, mainly in Enhancements to SIA’s Cabin Seat Product Offerings, Novel Features for SIA’s Next Generation Aircraft Cabins for Sleep Improvement and Pushing SIA’s Superior Customer Experience to New Heights with an Advanced Connected Cabin.
The duties and responsibilities for this role includes developing and executing strategies to deliver the 3 phases described in Project 4 and collaborating with other team members (which includes Software Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Data Analyst and Industrial Designer) in the WP and the Corp Lab to identify user pain points by leveraging on data analytics, design, qualitative and quantitative method to identified critical business needs.
As a UX researcher and designer, you will also be responsible to develop design solutions and concepts from the research data.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Design, Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology or related disciplines
- Possess good interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan, manage and conduct research using both qualitative and quantitative processes and methods
- UI/UX experience will be a plus
- Proficient with UI/UX software such as Figma, Adobe XD.
- Good writing and presentation skills.
- “A sound ability to scope a research process, lead fieldwork, conduct interviews and do desk research.
- Ability to synthesize research findings, uncover and articulate insights that will inform and inspire design.
- High comfort level in working within a self-directed culture and navigating ambiguity.
- Openness to critique from other disciplines and curiosity to learn from a spectrum of perspectives.
- An empathy and curiosity for how great brands, businesses and organizations navigate innovation and design.
- Experience with unique and novel tools and methods to uncover key insights
- Fluency in quantitative research methods. Ability to create and analyse surveys to impact design.
