Centre for Experiential Learning

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, management and improvement of the Professional Readiness Programme.

The programme encompasses knowledge and skills that help students transition from school to work and student to professional identities, and supports students in their integration into social and professional communities.

Through the programme, students enhance their repertoire of knowledge, skills and competencies to a) cope with the realities of the working world, e.g. through developing business sense and savvy; b) navigate professional relationships, e.g. decoding the unspoken, and careful impression management; and c) integrate well in both the local and global contexts, e.g. fluency in language and culture in intra- and inter-cultural encounters. The programme alleviates the fear, anxiety and unease faced by newcomers joining the world of work and empowers them to confidently traverse the rough and tumble of the world beyond the university. The programme draws inspiration for its themes and topics using an evidence-based approach informed by the annual Graduate Employment Survey, prevailing market demand for specific skills and knowledge, data from students’ work attachment, conversations with workplace supervisors, insights from CEL’s specialists, discussions with industry and institutional partners, and ongoing research into workplace practices.
