The Department of Student & Academic Administration (DSAA) is one of the largest central services at the University and is core to its success.  The Department is responsible for a diverse and wide-ranging set of critical administrative responsibilities and services across the institution, and these include: student and course management systems, timetabling, admissions, student and programme administration, academic administration, graduation, external returns and data standards, academic standards, quality management, and academic partnerships.

About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional quality assurance leader to join the Department of Student and Academic Administration at the University of Portsmouth.  Under the direction of the Head, as the Deputy Head of Quality Assurance and Academic Standards the Student and Academic Administration Manager (QAS) will lead a team of talented quality assurance specialists.   Within a changing sector landscape, the role will focus on innovation and enhancement, and will provide the operational leadership of our University-wide quality assurance frameworks, policies and regulations. The post holder will be responsible for course approval, course and module annual monitoring and academic review, external examining, academic appeals and student disciplinaries, examination and assessment, academic committees, professional and statutory regulatory bodies, and Ofsted inspections and other external quality-related reviews.

About You
You’ll have a successful track record in a senior quality assurance leadership role supporting degree level education, including degree apprenticeships.  You will have specialist expert knowledge of quality assurance and enhancement and be aware of sector level developments.  You will have had experience leading external reviews and audits.  You will have a strategic mindset, and have at the heart of what you do the drive to innovate and improve the student experience and outcomes.
