Job description

The Psychoactive Trials Group at the Centre for Affective Disorders is undertaking controlled clinical trials with psychedelics & related compounds. These trials are led by Dr James Rucker and Professor Allan Young  

The Group is seeking an outstanding candidate with experience of academic and clinical trial administration to this diverse and rewarding role.   

The post-holder will be responsible for providing administrative support in the areas of finance, HR, grant application development and data entry for the studies.  

The post-holder will also provide PA support to Dr Rucker and the wider team. 

 

This post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract for 12 months 

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent

 

Key responsibilities

  • Undertakes general administration of The Psychoactive Trials Group as requested by the Clinical Trial Research Manager and Dr James Rucker   
  • Resolves issues with departmental resources quickly and efficiently by working closely with colleagues throughout the College such as IT or AV services, Facilities and Estates, HR, Finance, and other academic and central administrative departments.  
  • Assists with the recruitment, induction and training of new members of staff, and academic visitors, acting as a point of reference for queries and advising them on College procedures and referring them to appropriate College services. 
  • Service meetings and take minutes 
  • Responsible for the purchase and recording of resources, equipment, and supplies for the Psychoactive Trials Group.   
  • Assists with the monitoring of budgets and expenditure using the College finance system 
  • Updating the Centre website as appropriate.  
  • Organises departmental staff events.   
  • Support the Psychedelic Trials Group’s Study Coordinators with research tasks including; data entry, file management and study expense processing.  
  • Undertakes any other reasonable duties that may be requested by the Clinical Trial Research Manager or Dr James Rucker

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

Essential criteria  

1.       Excellent interpersonal skills, able to interact with a wide variety of people in a professional and assured manner.   

2.       Proficient IT skills (including databases, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).   

3.       Excellent communication skills including appropriate use of English in formal documents, professional emails, and minutes.   

4.       Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.   

5.       Ability to multi-task efficiently and to balance competing priorities in a busy work environment.  

6.       Demonstrable experience of effective and efficient office administration, preferably in an academic environment.  

7.       Ability to review processes and propose improvements. 

8.       Experience with data entry into electronic data capture (EDC) systems. 

9.       Experience of diary and inbox management. 

 

Desirable criteria

1.       Experience of budgetary and financial processes with strong numeracy and data analysis skills.  

2.       Experience of Higher Education HR administration, including recruitment.  

3.       Experience of clinical trial administration  

4.       Experience of grant submission processes and systems
