About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure across a wide range of fundraising and project management activities and build your career profile in the Advancement space.

As a Philanthropy Project Officer, you will support philanthropic and stakeholder engagement strategies for the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. With strong prioritisation skills and a high degree of initiative, you will assist with the delivery of programs and activities to engage with prospective and existing donors. You will draft engaging information materials showcasing the positive impact of gifts and donations, write concise meeting briefings and reports and support the delivery of events.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with experienced fundraisers, project managers and leading scientists to highlight how donor contributions support the Doherty Institute’s ability to conduct world class research at the cutting edge of science.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Coordinate and provide administrative support to ensure efficient running of the day-to-day activities within the relevant philanthropic projects
  • Prepare documentation to assist relevant teams with gift establishment, implementation and reporting
  • Provide assistance with meetings including scheduling, venue & catering booking, coordination and registration of participants and the collation and organisation of meeting papers
  • Coordinate donor visits and events, including tours of the Institute and preparation of briefing materials

About You

You will be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent organisational skills and experience in navigating competing priorities and project deadlines. As a keen problem solver, you anticipate and eliminate obstacles to ensure projects are delivered on time.

Your proactive, positive and service-oriented approach, coupled with professionalism and discretion, enables you to quickly build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Ideally, you will further have:

  • Completion of a degree or advancement diploma, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
  • Demonstrated experience and confidence in working with sensitive and confidential information and issues and with a range of staff across a complex organisation, including senior executive staff and academics
  • Financial literacy and understanding of administrative processes and policies
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
