The Project: Terrain-AI

Terrain-AI (T-AI) is a collaborative research project coordinated by Maynooth University and supported by Science Foundation Ireland’s Strategic Partnership Programme involving Teagasc, TCD, UCD, UL and DCU together with primary Industry partner Microsoft. T-AI’s core R&D activity revolves around improving our knowledge and understanding of Land Use activity - as this relates to Climate Change. Expanding global populations, agricultural intensification and climate change are increasing pressures on natural and managed environments. To maximise sustainable land use, it is essential that we develop tools and information services that can inform more effective and sustainable management practices.

The Role

The project’s core R&D activity revolves around improving our knowledge and understanding of Land.

Use activity - as this relates to Climate Change. Industry work practices and human behaviours play a crucial role in how we tackle and address these global challenges. On the one hand, the project has to be able to research and develop innovative and robust Land Use monitoring methodologies but on the other hand, equally adept at engaging stakeholder groups and communicating effectively key findings in order to help form a consensus and effect change at political and industry levels as well as across broader society. The Principal Investigators (PIs) recognises the importance and need for an effective outreach strategy to engage not only with sector-specific stakeholders (e.g. Agriculture, Forestry, Peatland, Urban etc.), but also broader society in a meaningful way, over the remainder of the project.

The Data and Partnership Officer role will build on the existing online research platform: to provide a central location for Open Access data, private stakeholder data, tools, library, newsletters and news feeds on project progress. In tandem with this, maintaining an active presence on social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, blogs etc), essential for exposure and wider citizen engagement (e.g. online public and educational webinars, demonstrations, Masterclasses for key user groups).

Administrative Officer I (2022) Salary Scale: €51,170 – €56,565 (4 points) per annum pro rata

Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.

Closing Date:

23:30hrs (local Irish time) on Thursday 30th June 2022.
