The internationally esteemed and highly successful Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Helsinki is Finland’s leading unit of research and teaching in Educational Sciences and Teacher Education. The Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Helsinki conducts research related to human growth, development and learning, multilingualism and justice in education, pedagogy and didactics. Research objects are educational systems, learning environments and learners.

Our research aims towards the realization of cultural and social possibilities for the wellbeing of an individual and a society in a changing world. We provide undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education that qualifies students for both the teaching profession and other positions requiring general academic expertise. We also offer the pedagogical studies required to qualify as a teacher to students majoring in other faculties’ disciplines.

The Faculty of Educational Sciences is seeking a

PROJECT PLANNER

for a 6-month full-time contract between September 1st 2022 – February 28th 2023.

(The contract can also be part-time and spread over a longer time-period).

You will be working with the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the Global Innovation Network for Teaching and Learning (GINTL) as we are now recruiting a project planner to take on the tasks of a MOOC developer to work with the steering group in developing a renewed, exciting, and highly captivating MOOC: Finnish Education System. The course is a flagship course of the Faculty of Educational Sciences. Upon completion of the course, students have the readiness to discuss educational systems, and introduce the major features of the Finnish educational system to international audiences.  There is a need to develop the course to serve better a range of students: exchange students, University of Helsinki degree and Open University students, and other degree or non-degree students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • identify the needs for the course based on the previous course feedback, and the feedback on content and methodology of other UH MOOCs
  • benchmark the content of other Finnish universities’ open access “Finnish education” courses to support the design the content and approach of the course
  • coordinate the course development work
  • present a plan for the course content, methodology, and MOOC execution for the steering group
  • work together with UH MOOC Centre to design the MOOC
  • coordinate the content production
  • coordinate piloting the MOOC in spring 2023

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent, and interest in Finnish education in international contexts.
  • Good coordination and project management skills
  • Demonstrated networking and intercultural communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, knowledge of Finnish or Swedish is an asset.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The monthly gross salary is approximately between 2500-3000 euros. The exact salary shall be determined based on the qualification and experience of the selected candidate.
