Description

Bio Photonics and Energy Laboratory (BPEL) and the Vijay lab in the Engineering Division, New York University Abu Dhabi, seek to recruit a postdoctoral associate in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulationsmulti-phase flow modeling, and heat transfer analysis to work on the design and simulation of heat exchangers and heat recovery systems with applications in thermal management of solar photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) systems.

The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project on the emerging designs for heat exchangers and heat recovery systems such as lattice-based, Triply Periodic Minimal Surfaces (TPMS)-based, stochastic and gradient structures with applications in thermal management of solar PV and CSP systems. There will be a lot of learning opportunities on the job including use of additive manufacturing machines for fabrication of the optimized design. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students and will interact with several scientists from other disciplines.

The position is funded by ASPIRE – Virtual Research Institute Program. It is a 5-year program. The initial appointment is for 2 years and will be extended subject to satisfactory performance and funding agency requirements.

Applicants must have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Applicants with expertise and experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), modeling of multiphase flows and heat transfer are highly encouraged to apply. Must have experience working with CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent / COMSOL / Abaqus.
