About Us

At Murdoch, we pride ourselves on our diverse and vibrant workplace. We are committed to the recruitment and development of skilled and passionate people, who want to make a difference to the world around them. With more than 23,000 students and 1,700 staff across three campuses in the Perth area as well as centres in Singapore and Dubai, Murdoch has an ambitious agenda both locally and internationally.

The College of Science, Health, Engineering and Education was formed in January 2019 from an amalgamation of the Schools of Veterinary and Life Sciences, Engineering and IT, Health Professions, Psychology and Exercise Science, and Education. The combination of these individually strong areas has been designed to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, academic expertise and promote strengths in research and teaching across the sciences.

The Role

We are seeking an outstanding early or mid-career academic with a specialisation area focusing on human dimensions of environmental change. An in-depth knowledge of socio-ecological systems and quantitative approaches to research, using a range of tools including strong statistical data analysis skills, will be an advantage. As a lecturer/Senior Lecturer of Environmental Policy and Management you would join the Environmental and Conservations Sciences discipline group at an exciting time of renewal and new research initiatives. The discipline group is affiliated with the Harry Butler Institute (https://www.murdoch.edu.au/research/hbi).

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for research and teaching, excellent collaborative research skills, and an interdisciplinary perspective. Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant discipline area. We value candidates with a specialisation in one or more of the following areas: climate change from a social science perspective, climate change adaptation and policy, decision science (including multi-criteria spatial analysis), Natural Capital (carbon accounting, environmental economics etc).

You will play a key role in contributing to the teaching effort of the discipline through the preparation and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching content and activities; supervision of student research projects and acting as a point of contact for undergraduate, and postgraduate students.

Applicants should refer to the Position Descriptions for further details on the duties, skills and experience required for the position of ‘Lecturer in Environmental Policy and Management’ (Level B) and ‘Senior Lecturer in Environmental Policy and Management’ (Level C).

Applicants require Australian residency or possession of a valid visa with work entitlement in Australia. International candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.

You will be part of a vibrant and talented team, work in an innovative and lively university community and enjoy the benefits that come with working at Murdoch.

Our people enjoy a lively, natural campus and world-class facilities, as well as a range of benefits including:
