Job Description

The Duke-NUS Cancer and Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) Programme studies the causes and treatments of cancer and related diseases. The CSCB research groups have diverse programmes in both basic cancer biology and clinical-translational studies, with a special emphasis on cancers that affect the Asian community in genera

The main focus of the research studies in Dr Babita Madan's laboratory is to improve our understanding of Wnt driven cancer and stem cell biology using various genetic, molecular, cellular and biochemical approaches.

The selected candidate will perform a variety of research activities within the overall scope of the research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following: 

  • Assist in molecular and phenotypic analysis of cancer models.
  • Perform supervised molecular and cell biology experiments with senior laboratory members. 
  • Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
  • Prepare standard laboratory reagents. 
  • Maintain transgenic mice colonies, genotyping and monitoring of animals.
  • Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, procurement of reagent, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Science, Biotechnology, Molecular biology or related field. Applicants with higher credentials may be considered for more senior appointment.
  • Possesses knowledge and experience in molecular and cellular laboratory techniques such as cell culture, western blot, RNA and DNA isolation, RT-qPCR, and DNA gels are essential.
  • Possesses immunology skills and/or immunohistochemistry skills would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in mouse laboratory techniques would be useful.
  • Have understanding of the scientific principles relevant to various experimental methods.
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills with good written, oral communication and computer skills. 
  • Strong organisational and record keeping skills are a must.
  • A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
