London Jesuit Centre

The London Jesuit Centre (LJC) opened in 2019, with three strands to its work:  the teaching and discussion of theology, the study and practice of the spiritual life, and engagement with issues of social and environmental justice, for the greater glory of God and the common good.

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic member of staff to join our Social and Environmental Justice stream. The stream focuses on teaching around social and environmental justice issues, with courses taking place in conventional classroom/seminar contexts, in-person and online, as well as through events and outreach.

Job Description

The job of the Laudato Si’ champion will be twofold:

First, to assist in programming and deliver teaching in the Social and Environmental Justice Stream, with a particular emphasis on integral ecology and environmental justice.

Second, to help develop the Centre’s own transition towards sustainability and integral ecology through the implementation of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform. This will include consulting with other members of staff, including the section leads, house manager, and director.

The position will also provide the opportunity to engage in your own research and writing, with the Heythrop Library as a resource and connections encouraged with other works of the British Province of the Society of Jesus such as Campion Hall and the Laudato si’ Research Institute.

The mission of the Centre is education, and our understanding of what this means is not prescriptive - so outreach in a range of contexts is encouraged.

Please include with your application a one-page course overview and outline for a 5-week course on Laudato si’.
