Academic Support Librarian

We are seeking to appoint an Academic Support Librarian within the Information Services Directorate. This is a vital post within the Library’s Academic Support and User Services team, and will provide high quality, innovative and user-focussed services to students, academic staff and researchers at UWS. 

The team deliver all professional aspects of the library’s academic and research support activity to ensure maximum impact at the University. The post holder will take a proactive approach to building strong relations with academics, students, and other colleagues within the Information Services Directorate. This post will have a specific responsibility within a designated School, currently the School of Business and Creative Industries (as lead for Business) and be based primarily at our Paisley Campus.

This post is for a period of 6 months initially, while the library undertakes a service review. 
The successful candidate should have the following:

  • First degree and a postgraduate library and information science qualification; or a first degree in library and information science, information management, or equivalent.
  • Experience of designing and delivering information literacy sessions in person and online to a range of audiences.
  • Experience of working in an academic library environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamworking skills.
  • High level planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with staff at all levels, library users and the wider community.
