The Position

This position will provide a high level of service and coordination of the Biopolymer and Polymer Facility in the Research School of Chemistry (RSC). This facility is a new facility providing scientific support for the investigation and or analysis of chemical and or biological properties and structures. With a comprehensive list of instrumentation, the facility services a wide range of internal and external clients.

The Person

The successful candidate will have a strong background or experience in chemical biology or biomolecular or macromolecular production, purification and characterisation. This person will provide scientific expertise, advice, training, and leadership of the facility operations including the provision of core equipment management, training, technical support, and the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the facility under broad direction to a wide range of user groups. A working understanding of WHS procedures in a research laboratory are essential.

The School

The Research School of Chemistry (RSC) is recognised both nationally and internationally as a location of research and teaching excellence in Chemistry. The RSC is located on the Acton campus in Canberra and hosts state of the art scientific infrastructure and facilities utilised by colleagues across Australia and the world.

The College

The ANU College of Science (CoS) comprises: the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Research School of Biology, the Research School of Chemistry, the Research School of Earth Science, the Fenner School of Environment and Society, the Mathematical Sciences Institute, the Research School of Physics and Engineering, and the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science. Staff and students within the ANU College of Science conduct research and delivers a research-led education program that encompasses the breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and by world-class facilities.
