Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position in the theoretical nuclear physics group at the University of Surrey. The postholder will work within the group on a topic which fits within the current research profile in nuclear reactions, structure and/or theoretical methods. Full details of the current group membership and research activities can be found on the University of Surrey website at https://www.surrey.ac.uk/theoretical-nuclear-physics-group.

The theoretical nuclear physics group works closely with a large experimental nuclear group at Surrey, as well as with international collaborators. The environment is one which encourages interaction and collaboration with experimentalists, and there are synergies within the Physics Department with astrophysics, a foundations of physics group, artificial intelligence, and other areas. The University supports development of research skills as well as generic transferrable skills such as leadership, communication and project management. The Department is diverse and inclusive and we welcome applications from candidates of any gender, ethnicity or background.

Candidates must hold (or be close to completion of) a PhD in physics, applied mathematics or a closely related discipline, with a track record commensurate with the ability to work on theoretical nuclear physics.

Candidates should apply online and provide a CV with publication list, and a 1-2 page covering letter with statement summarising past research and proposed future collaborative research within the group at Surrey.

The position runs for up to two years with a preferred start date of 1st October 2022. Candidates are encouraged to contact Dr Paul Stevenson (p.stevenson@surrey.ac.uk) or Dr Alexis Diaz-Torres (a.diaztorres@surrey.ac.uk) if they have any questions.

Interviews to be arranged for week commencing 11 July 2022.
