Job Description

The United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a Faculty position in the area of agricultural plant pathology. Candidates are expected to have a strong background in diagnosis and management of health problems of crops in greenhouses as well as in the open field. Experience in the development of diagnostic protocols and plant disease management strategies for agro-ecosystems of arid lands would be of great advantage. The successful candidate is expected to establish and further develop cutting edge micro- and molecular biological methods for identification, cultivation, and characterization of pathogenic organisms in our laboratories. Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We further expect a demonstrable research capability that will enable the candidate to develop and sustain an internally and/or externally funded research program in his/her area of expertise, publish his/her research findings in refereed journals, and actively engage in promoting the growth of the UAE University. Candidates should be able to establish active and productive interdisciplinary research collaborations with colleagues within and outside of the University.

Minimum Qualification

  • Candidate mush hold a PhD degree in the area of agricultural plant pathology, or
  • Closely related filed and must have documented research experience in plant Disease management.
  • Post Doctoral experience with a scholarly emphasis on Agricultural Entomology, plant protection.

Preferred Qualification

PhD in area of agricultural plant pathology.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience

The position is typically for academic year, which involves in teaching undergraduate and graduate students along with research activities. The successful candidate must develop a competitive and internationally visible research program with emphasis on sustainable management of plants. Assessing Plant Pathology and plant diseases and its current/future impact on crop productivity will be highly encouraged. The incumbent should be able to obtain/attract extramural funding through individual and collaborative efforts
