Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Lecturer in Applied Linguistics in the Centre for Applied English Studies (Ref.: 515144), to commence on January 1, 2023, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Applied Linguistics, TESOL or a closely related field and have a minimum of 10 years of relevant teaching experience at tertiary level. They should also have experience in teaching Applied Linguistics/TESOL courses and supervising students at the postgraduate level. The Centre is ideally seeking expertise in teaching and researching one or more of the following areas: phonology, language testing/assessment and sociolinguistics. Other areas of expertise that can complement the Centre’s strengths may also be considered. Applicants with experience in developing course materials for online delivery and/or instructional design will be considered favorably.
The appointee will primarily be required to teach the Centre’s M.A. programme, supervise M.A. students and make a contribution to academic leadership. He/she will also be expected to actively engage in, support and lead scholarly activities. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
