The Department of Gerontology is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Gerontology on a full-time or Part-time basis for 12 months. You will have knowledge and understanding of Gerontology, some experience in teaching and the ability to teach in the field of ageing and qualitative or quantitative research methods (eg use of NVivo; or statistics using SPSS or STATA).

A background in one of the following areas would be particularly welcomed: ageing and health; or ageing and social policy; or ageing and sociology.

You will work in the Department of Gerontology, situated in the School of Economic Social and Political Science, within the Faculty of Social Sciences. The Faculty brings together a unique range of disciplines and is committed to tackling the world’s biggest challenges through interdisciplinary research.

You will contribute to the postgraduate teaching programmes, enhance the profile of the Department and the Centre for Research on Ageing, and bring a proven record of scholarship. You will be expected to teach on the MSc in Gerontology, MSc in Gerontology (Research) and MSc Global Ageing and Policy, (remotely and on campus) and supervise and support MSc students.

You will have a PhD or be enrolled on a PhD programme in Gerontology or in a discipline closely related to the study of ageing (e.g. Social Policy, Sociology, Demography, Health Sciences, Social Statistics, Psychology, Geography) and have relevant teaching and administrative experience. We would expect the successful applicant to have a background in ageing and the ability to strengthen existing expertise in this area and contribute to curriculum development and the teaching of students in receipt of Commonwealth Scholarships.

The post is tenable from 1st October 2022
