Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer (holding the title of Laboratory Manager) in School of Public Health (Ref.: 515107), to commence as soon as possible on a two- to three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in biomedical sciences, biochemistry, molecular biology or a science-related discipline, with at least 6 years’ relevant work experience, preferably with solid hands-on experience in primary cell isolation and culture, protein chemistry, molecular biology, imaging and virology. They should have strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. They should be self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility. Knowledge of laboratory and project management, developmental skills and the proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment would be advantageous.
The appointee will provide technical consultation and support to multidisciplinary research projects on infectious diseases. He/She will assist in the implementation and development of new technologies, and oversee the setup and maintenance of primary cell cultures facility in the laboratory.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
