About the Role

Reporting to the Dean of Programs (Nursing and Midwifery), the Associate Professor will contribute independently and as part of a team to support the Academic Unit’s teaching and research outcomes and initiatives to maintain and develop scholarly, research and/or professional activities. This position will make a significant contribution to academic leadership to support the Unit's teaching and learning initiatives in undergraduate, honours and postgraduate programs, advancing the research profile of the unit through program development and collaborative research supported by competitive research grant funding.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide academic leadership to support the Academic Unit’s teaching and learning initiatives
  • Lead and contribute to the ongoing development of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Conduct research and scholarly activity which results in publications and the presentation of conference papers and seminars
  • Initiate, foster and enhance national and international links with professional, government, university and community bodies
  • Coordinate, supervise and mentor an academic team to ensure the effective delivery of courses

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A PhD qualification and a national and international record of achievement in a research field relevant to nursing
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Demonstrated expertise, knowledge and contribution to Nursing
  • Ability to enhance the research profile of the Unit through collaborative research, HDR supervision and a publication track record
  • Evidence of national/international networks and competitive grant applications and outcomes
