Job Description

The Research Assistant will be involved in research activities to unveil biofilm washout resistance to substrates.

The duties will include but not limited to the following: -

  • Design and liaise with manufacturers to produce microfluidic devices for biofilm washout resistance
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret experimental results.
  • Draft reports and research papers.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the laboratory area and general maintenance tasks, ensuring laboratory safety
  • Perform other related duties to support the research group

Qualifications

  1. To be able to design microfluidic devices independently (strictly required)
  2. To be familiar with microfluidic manufacturers and facilities in Singapore (highly advantageous)
  3. To have previous experience in microfluidic approaches to quantify microbial adhesion and shear stress forces needed to decontaminate substrates (highly advantageous)
  4. To be familiar with imaging techniques (like electron scanning microscope) and to be able to grow and quantify biofilms using traditional techniques such as CVA and CFU independently (advantageous)

The selected candidate will be offered competitive salary and benefits and the successful candidate may be appointed up to 24 months.
