THE POST – Dean of the School of Computing, Engineering & Physical Sciences
Paisley Campus base with travel to other locations as required
We are looking to recruit an outstanding individual for the role of Dean of the School of Computing, Engineering & Physical Sciences. The Dean has key responsibility for providing strategic, operational and academic leadership to the School and maintaining and developing the School’s profile and reputation in teaching, research, knowledge transfer, scholarship and financial performance.
Reporting to the Provost & Deputy Principal/Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Dean is a senior member of staff who will provide vision and leadership to a dedicated team who strive to continuously inspire our students and wider University community. You will play a key role in driving forward our ambition to deliver transformational change, through outputs that have a tangible, early and positive impact on society across the globe.

If you have a track record of leading and overseeing academic activities, and think you have the experience and expertise to enhance the School’s and the University’s national and international reputation, then we would like to hear from you. The successful candidate should have the following:
- PhD (or equivalent) ideally in one of the cognate areas of the School’s activity.
- Experience of strategic leadership within a relevant academic field, leading, managing and developing staff at all levels and managing financial and physical resources.
- Experience of leading and managing change, to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of academic teaching, research and knowledge transfer activities.
- Highly developed skills in decision making, influencing and negotiation.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues facing the higher education sector internationally.
