The School of Design is part of the highly successful and vibrant faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Reporting to the Head of the School of Design, you will support the head in providing strategic and operational leadership for your school, covering many disciplines. You will provide strong academic leadership and vision for your School driven by a commitment to Teaching and Student Experience, Research and Knowledge Exchange.
The post holder is expected to have and maintain strong stakeholder relationships at regional, national and international levels across teaching or their subject-related discipline, with a proven track record of teaching and scholarship initiatives or discipline-related research, including obtaining external funding. The post holder will be expected to provide leadership and set standards of excellence.
Successful candidates will act as an advocate for change and will have significant experience at the senior manager level within education or industry-based organisation of comparable size and complexity. The successful candidate must also have a PhD degree or equivalent professional practice in a relevant subject.
The role of Deputy Head of School is for an initial period of three years. The role holder’s period of office may be extended beyond this initial three-year period subject to outstanding performance and review.
