Election of Master
St Catharine’s College will celebrate its 550th anniversary in 2023. Named for St Catharine of Alexandria, patron saint of scholars, today the College, affectionately known as ‘Catz’, prides itself on its collegial and eminent Fellowship, diverse undergraduate and postgraduate student body, and focus on widening participation. The College community currently comprises 67 Fellows, almost 900 students, and 130 members of staff. In recent years, the College has seen growth in student numbers, the transformation of key buildings, and the expansion of welfare provision, such that the College now invests more in this area than any other College.
With the retirement of Professor Sir Mark Welland in September 2023 after seven years in role, the College wishes to invite applications from outstanding candidates to fulfil the role of Master from 1st October 2023. The successful candidate will be a person of integrity and stature with a distinguished record of leadership and achievement who will command the intellectual and personal respect of the Fellowship and the wider College community in guiding the College during their tenure. They will demonstrate a deep affinity with the College’s educational mission and values; inspire and encourage the community of Fellows, staff, and students in pursuit of excellence in all their endeavours; support the continued development of a welcoming, inclusive, sustainable environment in which all can flourish; and enthusiastically represent the College to the wider community.
Completed applications should be uploaded at https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/ quoting reference number 5691. The closing date for applications is midday BST on Monday 27th June 2022.
