Associate Biology Education Lecturer

This opportunity is for an experienced teacher of Biology to join an innovative programme of teacher education at the Sighthill campus of Edinburgh Napier University. This development opportunity will offer the successful applicant a gained familiarity with Higher Education and be offered both personal and academic opportunities for development.
You will mainly be involved in carrying out the following duties:
- Teaching on the PGDE Programme. Particular focus on BGE science and Biology.
- School Experience visits and classroom observation
- Leadership of the BGE science components of the PGDE programme.
- Work with colleagues on the student interview process
- Development of CPD courses for science teaching.

What we will need from you:
We will give you the autonomy to develop your curricular course and develop leadership roles within our new, ground-breaking programmes in ITE. We will support you to work beyond the traditional boundaries and make entrepreneurship and innovation key to our curricula. You will work with others internally, across the school and wider university, and externally to foster an inter-professional, collaborative approach to educational delivery from the outset, and will have steer in recruiting further professionals to support our new programmes.
As such, we are looking for a strong teaching professional, with minimum 5 years secondary school experience in Biology, keen to be at the forefront of ITE, driving change within the sector to ensure our students receive an unrivalled learning experience, built on highly innovative and applied programmes.
Essential to these positions is to be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.(G.T.C.S), a P.V.G. and Driving Licence. A PhD would be advantageous.
Please note that employment in this post is conditional on the successful post holder being able to obtain an up to date PVG certificate. The successful candidate will not be permitted to commence employment until this has been confirmed.

Salary: Grade 6, £40,927 - £50,296 per annum
