About Us

Macquarie University's Faculty of Medicine, Health, and Human Sciences builds on our aspiration to have the nation's first fully integrated Academic Health Sciences Centre under a university's leadership.

The Faculty offers a distinctive suite of capability-based educational programs, and is expanding it's current suite of medical and allied health teaching programs further into the area of exercise and sports science. The Department of Health Sciences is a newly formed department comprising academics and resesrchers from exercise and sports science, physiotherapy, population health, and lymphoedema management. In research, the department includes the Biomechanics, Physical Performance, and Exercise (BioPPEx) research group, a multi-disciplinary group that focuses on improving performance and decreasing injuries in humans. The context for the research includes sport (junior to senior, and amateur to professional), exercise (as it relates athlete and non-athlete populations), and occupational (for example military and tactical populations).

Macquarie is a university engaged with the real and often complex problems and opportunities that define our lives. Since our foundation 54 years ago, we have aspired to be a different type of university. Over the years, we've grown to become the centre of a vibrant local and global community.
