Reporting to:
Senior Research Support Officer
Research Development and Support (RDS)

Under general to broad direction, the Research Support Officer is responsible for research administration support and assistance to researchers with the submission of grants and tenders, research data capture and communicating research activities for the College of Science and Engineering. This position will have a particular focus on providing project, organisational and administrative support for the University’s research partnership with the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI).

Key Position Responsibilities

The Research Support Officer is accountable for:

  • Providing project, organisational and administrative support to assist in the University’s research engagement with the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI).
  • Providing administrative support for pre- and post- award grants and contracts.
  • Providing administrative and research support for researchers within the College of Science and Engineering.
  • Building and sustaining positive working relationships with a range of relevant key internal and external stakeholders, including industry, academic and government partners, with a specific focus on SARDI.
  • Taking an active role in identifying and developing new research projects. 
  • Managing information and producing accurate and timely reports as required.
  • Assisting with the formalising and ongoing maintenance of research agreements.
  • Coordinating the preparation of key marketing material and associated information for digital and written platforms. 
  • Identifying and contributing to continuous improvements in systems, processes, and quality service delivery.
  • Participating in learning and development activities and effectively collaborating with all staff to ensure a positive workplace culture.
  • Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the role as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University.

Key Position Capabilities

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, or equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills, together with the ability to engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high quality outcomes, including an attention to detail, the ability to research and collate information from a wide range of sources, and an ability to relate tasks to the wider context.
  • Excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in research administration.
  • Informed problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work with general supervision to determine and prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary administrative systems, software and practices, and an ability to interpret and apply a range of relevant policies and procedures within a large and complex organisation. 
  • Flexibility and adaptability coupled with a strong team focus and collaborative approach.
