Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant in the Department of Electronics Engineering.

This fixed term role for a position of Research Assistant (RA) is due to recent received funding award from Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA). This research project involves experimental development and demonstration of novel BIAS controller design to interact with modulator for RF transmission over fibre. This role will support the ongoing research work in this area, and it will entail the display of excellent theoretical and experimental skills working in Microwave Photonics Lab. This research project funded by DASA offers a great opportunity for existing or recently completed MEng/MSc candidates where they can join a microwave photonics team at an exciting phase of ongoing investment.

The successful candidate will have an MEng, or MSc in Electronics Engineering with a experience in industry working projects. The candidate will also have excellent experimental skills of handling electronic components/systems, RF and Optics Equipment like Microwave signal Generator, Microwave Spectrum Analysers, Electro-optic Modulators, Optical Fiber, and Optical Spectrum Analysers. It will also be desirable to have a knowledge of simulation tools used in Electronics or Photonics such as MATLAB, LABView, Multisim, and VPI Photonics. The candidate must have good presentation skills, a strong communicator, computer literate in all Microsoft Packages.
