This is an exciting opportunity to join the world-class Electrical & Electronic Engineering Department at the University of Surrey.

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the EEE undergraduate 1st year laboratory, a small workshop, and our Student Makerspace. Further to that, you will assist colleagues from the FEPS Foundation Year and other external lab users.

Within this exciting role you will play an important part in providing high quality technical support and customer service to our student and academic cohort. This includes maintaining a safe working environment for students and staff in our laboratories by following our Health & Safety policies and working procedures and ensuring general tidiness and cleanliness of all lab areas.

You should be an excellent communicator, with outstanding IT skills in Office 365 and a proven ability to work with people. You will be responsible for setting up lab experiments, maintaining stocks of components, ordering components from external suppliers and first line servicing of electrical test equipment while maintaining up-to-date documentation. Additional responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of both the Laser Cutter and 3D printer and helping support users in these areas and some manual handling is involved within this role.

You will also be expected to take part in regular team meetings with the Laboratory Supervisor and EEE Technical Services Manager.

Furthermore, there is also a requirement to help in our departmental open days and applicant days which are sometimes held at the weekend.

An ONC, HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject such as Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Computing is advantageous.

For this role you need a good knowledge of Electronics although training will be given.
