Applications are invited for appointments as Research Officer/Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.: 513863), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for the post of Research Officer and 10% of basic salary for the post of Research Assistant I/II
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or above in Engineering/Science or a related field from an institution which meets the criteria as set out in the guidelines of the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) at https://www.itf.gov.hk/filemanager/publication/en/upload/1234/RTH-SPC%20Guide_en_Mar%202021.pdf. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; good interpersonal and communication skills; good coordination, organizational and problem-solving skills; be highly motivated with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently and in a team. Knowledge in research equipment setup or chemical handling is required. Candidates with experience in cleanroom would be an added advantage. Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for the position of Research Assistant I/II.
The appointee will be responsible for providing support to the research group, including but not limited to:
- provide support in teaching and research activities;
- collaborate with researchers and students to implement standard operating procedures and enhance research efficiency;
- provide research equipment operation training and research safety training to researchers and students;
- coordinate with the safety office on chemical handling and disposal protocols; and
- perform any other duties as assigned.
