Research Payments Officer
- 0.8 FTE, part time, fixed term until June 2023

About the opportunity
The Research Payments Officer plays an active role implementing Faculty strategies and initiatives designed to foster excellence and innovation in research.
The Research Payments Officer supports the research activities of the Faculty by undertaking activities related to the payment of third parties as indicated through research agreements and contracts. This includes ensuring effective management and oversight of contractual arrangements as they pertain to third party payments.
The Research Payments Officer works as part of the Research and Development Unit to effectively assist researchers with issues related to the generation of invoicing and payments which occur through agreed milestones.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- ensure accurate maintenance of third-party payments by reviewing and processing payment requests, ensuring adherence to contractual schedules
- ensure contract and agreement data is accurate and consistent with third party payments by working with key stakeholders such as the UniBuy, Finance and DVC (Research) teams
- make sure records are appropriately set-up and maintained to enable third party payments
- deliver customer centric support services in relation to third party payments by building supportive and trusted relationships
- monitor and manage standard reports to monitor progression of third-party payment matters within remit
- manage accounts payable/receivable, daily ad hoc financials, invoices, third party contract agreements and assist with budgeting activities
- manage business unit shared inbox and allocation of tasks and activities within the team
- has proven experience in invoice and payment related matters in a University/higher education research environment
- has a good understanding of financial, invoice, contract management and budgeting activities
- account payable and account receivable experience would be highly advantageous
- highly desirable if you have experience with university systems such as UniBuy and budgeting project tools
- has experience in reviewing the terms and conditions of third party contracts/invoices
- proven experience in a position requiring high attention to detail; and ability to plan, prioritise, and organise workloads
- has excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- can work both independently and as part of a team, and has the ability to build partnerships and communicate between multidisciplinary teams
- has excellent computer and shared inbox management skills
- excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, together with excellent conflict resolution skills in dealing with day-to-day operational matters
- excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes
- hybrid working - 3 days office and 1 day at home
- this role is based at the Westmead campus.
