At TU Dresden, Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Institute of Concrete Structures (Prof. Marx) offers, subject to the availability of resources, a position as

Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting as soon as possible. The position is initially limited for 36 months. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).

Task: Scientific investigations, particularly in the DFG project "Design methodology for cross-life monitoring of structures with unknown damage process" within the framework of SPP 2388. The aim of this project is to develop a design methodology that can be used to reliably design a sensor concept for the new application area of cross-life monitoring systems. The assignments include scientific investigations in the field of bridge construction; evaluations of damage, measurement, 3D imaging and inspection data of engineering constructions; numerical simulations and analyses; publications of research results in scientific journals and at conferences. In addition, the project-related supervision of student projects and theses (diploma and master) is also within the scope of duties.

Requirements: university degree in the field of civil engineering, building materials engineering, construction informatics or comparable with an above-average academic performance; deep interest in civil engineering, construction informatics; great sense of responsibility, reliability and a high degree of initiative; good organizational skills and an independent and conscientious approach to work; interest in interdisciplinary cooperation, good team spirit and communication skills including good oral and writing skills; very good English skills and at least a basic knowledge of German; skilled in the use of technology and software commonly used in this profession.
