Job Description

  • To provide specialist bioinformatics analyses of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and cellular phenotypic data to investigate genetic influences on gene expression and vascular cell behaviour in relation to cardiovascular diseases.
  • To provide input into the design of experimental studies and the preparation of research grants and scientific papers for publication.

  • RNA-Seq data analysis.
  • Gene regulatory networks analysis.
  • Cardiovascular research.
  • Research productivity (e.g. research publications in peer review journals).

Qualifications

  • Good honours level first degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. mathematics or biology).
  • Higher degree (i.e. PhD) in bioinformatics or in biological sciences with a strong computer programming component - required.
  • Experience in standard techniques in bioinformatics.
  • Strong programming skills (e.g. in R, Perl or C++).
  • Evidence of involvement in innovative research.
  • Proven analytic and technical/scientific problem solving capability.
