Job Description

AI Singapore (AISG) is a national AI programme launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to anchor deep national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) thereby creating social and economic impacts, grow the local talent, build an AI ecosystem, and put Singapore on the world map.

The programme office is hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and brings together all Singapore-based research institutions and the vibrant ecosystem of AI start-ups and companies developing AI products to perform use-inspired research, grow the knowledge, create the tools, and develop the talent to power Singapore’s AI efforts.

AI Singapore (AISG) is offering a Postdoctoral Fellowship to work in its new AI Governance pillar. Candidates building a career in the area of AI Governance (broadly understood) are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants will become Fellows of AISG, with the possibility of affiliation with another Faculty of NUS and will commence their Fellowships in February 2022 (or an agreed date thereafter) and conclude them in February 2023.

For a description of the scope of research under the AI Governance pillar, see the outline here.

Qualifications

The applicant must be of exceptional calibre, having attained a doctoral degree in a relevant areas of research, which must have been successfully completed and examined during the period 1 January 2019 to 31 Dec 2021. Applicants who have not been awarded the doctoral degree by the date of application but who intend to submit their doctoral thesis for examination are welcome to apply, but in these circumstances written assurance is required from the applicant's supervisor (and endorsed by the awarding institution) that there is reasonable expectation that the doctoral degree will be awarded.
