The Cancer Biophysics Lab at the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, the University of Cyprus, announces one (1) vacancy for a full time Special Scientist position for the needs of the research project DL-MechanoPredictor: Deep learning derived mechanical biomarkers for cancer therapy prediction that has been selected for funding by the European Research Council (ERC). The position is subject to the completion of the pertinent Grant Agreement between the ERC and the University of Cyprus and the selected candidate is expected to start on September 1, 2022.
The project aims to harness the power of deep learning (DL) methods in order to develop a robust biomarker based on ultrasound shear wave elastography (SWE). The DL algorithms will be applied to a large set of existing preclinical data that have been collected during previous research in the Cancer Biophysics Lab.
A MCs degree focusing on deep learning methods and Convolutional Neural Networks for biomedical imaging applications.
A PhD degree will be considered as an additional qualification.
Experience on software development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Development of DL algorithms for automate segmentation of the tumor on B-mode ultrasound images.
- Development of DL algorithms for quantification of elasticity maps generated from SWE.
The monthly gross salary for full time employment (140 hrs/month) is in the range of €2,500-€3,500, depending on experience and qualifications. From this amount, employee contributions to the various government funds will be deducted. The initial contract is for one
1 year with the possibility of renewal based on successful progress. 13th salary is not provided.
