Libraries & Collections (L&C) have created a plan, Library Evolution, which will enable us to transform our services, our resources and our spaces as we move towards 2029. Learning Design & Delivery sits within the Education & Learning department in L&C. We are responsible for the design and teaching of learning activities and courses that enhance the information literacy skills and the King’s community. We collaborate with L&C colleagues to develop inclusive pedagogical practice, and liaise with staff, students and NHS colleagues to co-create embedded learning.
We are part of the wider Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King’s faculties to do so.
About the Role
As Head of Learning Design & Delivery you will be a member of the Libraries & Collections Senior Management Team. You will contribute to the strategic direction of L&C and provide operational leadership across the service. You will be responsible for leading a team of specialist Learning and Teaching Librarians, Digital Education Librarians and Senior Library Assistants in developing and delivering embedded and standalone skills programmes and other educational and research-based activities.

You will be required to contribute, as manager on duty, towards a rota for evening and weekend working.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract
This is a full-time post, but we welcome applications from candidates seeking a flexible work pattern within our necessary service operating hours.
- Work as part of our Senior Management Team to deliver our Library Evolution strategy
- Lead and manage a large and highly motivated team
- Lead the development and delivery of our portfolio of teaching and learning activities
- Lead the development and delivery of our in-depth Enquiry Service
- Represent Libraries & Collections on institutional educational working groups
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues working on skills and education across King’s
- Partner with faculties and other stakeholders to embed information literacy within curriculum design

Skills, knowledge, and experience
Qualifications & Training
- Professionally accredited library qualification or suitably qualified by experience
- Teaching and learning qualification and/or membership of the Higher Education Academy
Skills & Experience
- Experience of liaison, advocacy and working in partnership with a range of stakeholders
- Experience of designing and delivering learning and teaching activities across a variety of formats and delivery mediums.
- Experience of managing and motivating a team of staff to a high level of performance
- Highly organised and skilled in managing and delivering projects and other initiatives
- Evidence of a personal commitment to advancing equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace
- Knowledge of information literacy, digital literacy and media literacy concepts and frameworks
- Knowledge of the digital education landscape within Higher Education
- Knowledge of inclusive educational pedagogy and principles
- Professionally active, with experience of contributing to conferences and other professional events
