Working closely with the Vice Principal, Skills and Lifelong Learning and the Training and Work-Based Learning Lead, you will engage pro-actively with sector stakeholders, potential employers, schools, SRUC colleagues and government agencies. You will co-ordinate SRUC’s development, academic approval and delivery of higher-level apprenticeships, CPD and work-based learning and assessments.

You will contribute to planning activity regarding changing service needs and operation of SRUC’s apprenticeship and work-based learning programmes. You will also act as a key point of contact within SRUC for requests and queries relating to apprenticeships, CPD and work-based learning.

There may be an opportunity to deliver training and assessment, depending on the successful candidate experience and subject expertise.

In this role, it will be your responsibility:

  • to co-ordinate SRUC’s development, academic approval and delivery of higher-level apprenticeships, CPD and work-based learning and assessment, covering a range of funding streams including Apprenticeships, skills development funding and other work place opportunities
  • there may be an opportunity to deliver training and assessment, depending on the successful candidate experience and subject expertise
  • to contribute to the development of high-quality apprenticeship delivery, employer engagement, CPD and work-based learning and assessment - maximising benefits to customers and SRUC, and meeting the needs of apprentices, employers, government agencies and in line with government skills development policies
  • to act as key point of contact within SRUC for queries relating to higher level apprenticeships, CPD and work-based learning, both internally and from external stakeholders including sector stakeholders, local authorities, employers, funding agencies and both current and potential partner organisations
  • to work with the Vice Principal, Skills and Lifelong Learning and the Training and Work-Based Learning Lead in developing new business opportunities relating to higher level apprenticeships, CPD and work-based learning within SRUC, and maintaining existing business and customer relationships, in order to ensure recruitment of sufficient candidates and meet clear income generation targets
  • to liaise with academic departments for staff resource to support development, approvals process and delivery of higher-level apprenticeships, work-based learning and CPD (e.g. lecturers, trainers, assessors, colleagues within Registry and SRUC’s Centre for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT))
  • to carry out relevant administrative duties - including maintenance of up-to-date records of training provided, assessment and of customers, and effective use of a CRM system
  • to provide timely management reports
  • to liaise with Marketing, Digital and Communications in relation to marketing support
  • to assist the Vice Principal, Skills and Lifelong Learning and the Training and Work-Based Learning Lead in developing and implementing centralised systems, policies and processes
  • to ensure compliance with, and maximisation of opportunities for funding from, relevant training and education authorities
  • to develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the apprenticeship, skills and CPD needs relevant to the six natural economy subsectors (agriculture, forestry, tourism, food and drink, fishing and aquaculture, and energy including renewables)
  • to participate in apprentice, work-based learning and CPD recruitment activities (e.g. open days) for SRUC
  • to develop and encourage implementation of robust educational pathways and work with SRUC colleagues to communicate the range of learner journeys to stakeholders and prospective apprentices
  • to work in partnership with Skills and Work-Based Learning colleagues across SRUC
  • to represent Skills and Work-Based Learning colleagues as and when required
