Job Description

Asian Law Institute (ASLI) Fellowship Programme

Only full-time academic staff of Founding Members and Member Institutions of ASLI can apply for this fellowship.

While at NUS, the ASLI Fellows are expected to

• conduct research on legal issues of interest to their respective jurisdiction (if from Asia) or to Asia in general.
• to present a seminar paper during his or her fellowship. He or she will be expected to contribute to the ASLI Working Paper Series within a month after the end of the fellowship.

In addition, a Fellow may be invited to teach as a guest lecturer in a course or courses offered at NUS Law.

The ASLI Fellow is also encouraged to prepare a paper for presentation at the next ASLI conference in the month of May or June following their Fellowship.

The fellowship should ideally be for a two-month period. However, it is possible that, because of work commitment or other considerations, the fellowship be limited to one month.

Successful candidates for the ASLI Fellowship are required to be in residence in the Faculty throughout the duration of the fellowship.

Requirements

The selection committee will consider the following criteria in making an appointment for the position of ASLI Fellows:

• Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s degree
• Ph.D. students at an ASLI institution are not eligible. Please note however that full-time academic staff at an ASLI institution who are actually teaching full-time at their own faculty while in the finishing stages of their Ph.D. can be considered.
• Satisfaction of the requirements as set out in the Application Form

1. Application Form - The application form (including the Dean/Head's recommendation). Applicants may email ASLI secretariat at asli@nus.edu.sg for the application form.
2. Curriculum Vitae - A curriculum vita containing complete and detailed information on your academic institutions, honours, awards, all publications to date, and all professional experience (current and previous, including dates of employment and job descriptions).
3. Publication list - List your publications first and then, your unpublished papers. Please state which publications or papers are in English and if available, please send us one sample of a publication, or paper presented, in English.

The closing date for the receipt of applications is 6 June 2022. Late applications will not be considered.

Shortlisting and Interview

Applications will be submitted to the ASLI directors for evaluation. Some of the candidates may be interviewed by Zoom. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted concerning the status of their application.
