About the opportunity
The Compliance Manager is responsible for implementing and further developing the University's legislative compliance framework, to enable the University to manage its diverse legislative compliance obligations. Working with identified compliance obligation owners, the Compliance Manager assists University managers to develop and lead specific compliance initiatives in their areas, including identifying and implementing appropriate management controls.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- maintain and manage a compliance directory detailing a list of legislation, compliance obligations and management controls
- ensure any new laws and legislative developments are added to the compliance directory and support the relevant compliance obligation owners in relation to any changes to laws
- establish and maintain compliance issues register
- coordinate the annual compliance certification process
- review and assess compliance, and the University's culture of compliance
- develop and maintain effective working relationships with compliance obligation owners and accountable Principal Officers
- design and provide information sessions or training about the Compliance Directory and its uses as required
About you
- senior level experience in managing diverse compliance matters in large and complex organisations
- advanced skills in managing IT systems and databases and working with online services
- demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and/or confidential matters with tact, diplomacy and discretion
- experience working with legal, compliance and governance professionals
- excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, particularly the ability to develop and foster collegiate relationships across internal organizational boundaries
- experience, knowledge and understanding of the higher education sector
- qualifications in law preferred
