Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in the Centre for Cybersecurity & Cybercrime Investigation working on the H2020 funded INSPECTr project. The principal objective of INSPECTr will be to develop a shared intelligence platform and a novel process for gathering, analysing, prioritising and presenting key data to help in the prediction, detection and management of crime in support of multiple agencies at local, national and international level. This data will originate from the outputs of free and commercial digital forensic tools complemented by online resource gathering. Using both structured and unstructured data as input, the developed platform will facilitate the ingestion and homogenisation of this data with increased levels of automisation, allowing for interoperability between outputs from multiple data formats. Various knowledge discovery techniques will allow the investigator to visualise and bookmark important evidential material and export it to an investigative report. In addition to providing basic and advanced (cognitive) cross-correlation analysis with existing case data, this technique will aim to improve knowledge discovery across exhibit analysis within a case, between separate cases and ultimately, between inter-jurisdictional investigations. INSPECTr will deploy big data analytics, cognitive machine learning and blockchain approaches to significantly improve digital and forensics capabilities for pan-European Law Enforcement Agencies. This is an advanced research focused role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to develop new or advanced research skills and competences, on the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications and scholarly dissemination, the development of funding proposals, and the supervision and mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project: * Contribute to the analytic capabilities of the platform being developed, by enhancing the project's computer vision applications * Support the highly collaborative nature of the project by working alongside a range of industry and law enforcement consortium partners.

Salary Scale: PD1: €39,522 - €45,610 per annum or PD2: €46,906 - €51,053 per annum Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Closing date: 17:00hrs (local Irish time) on 8th June 2022 Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 17:00hrs (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications. UCD do not require assistance from Recruitment Agencies. Any CV's submitted by Recruitment Agencies will be returned.
