Job description

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to be a highly productive, ambitious, and collaborative member of the Fantasia research project. As Research Fellow, the successful candidate will contribute to the planning and delivery of the research activity and assist in the development of future research proposals, with the research activity focusing on the development of automated approaches for the finite element analysis of aviation power plants.

This is a great opportunity and the successful candidate will work in close collaboration with both industrial partners (Rolls Royce) and academic partners (Cranfield University).

The successful candidate must have and your CV/Cover letter (or application form) should clearly demonstrate that:

  • You have, or are about to obtain a relevant PhD in the field of Computer Aided Engineering.
  • At least 3 years relevant research experience to include:
    • Demonstrable experience with CAD parametrization.
    • Demonstrable experience with Finite Element Analysis.
    • Demonstrable experience in programming/scripting, beyond that taught in undergraduate engineering courses.
    • A proven track record of using numerical models to carry out analyses, critical evaluations, and interpretations of data.

This is a fixed term post for 25 months or available until November 2024, whichever is the soonest. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
