About the position

The Department of Education and Training Victoria has funded four existing Teaching Academies of Professional Practice (TAPPs) partners to undertake school-based research into preparation and placement approaches for teaching in rural and regional schools. The partnership of Latrobe University and The University of Melbourne has received funding for the research in 2022 and 2023 as part of the engagement with school partners and mentors.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Conduct and publish, or otherwise disseminate high quality and/or high impact research/scholarly activities under limited supervision either independently or as part of a team.
  • A comprehensive collection of data from pre-service teachers, mentors, centre and school leaders, parent groups and community groups.
  • Attendance at meetings associated with research or the work of the unit to which the research is connected including the Department of Education, La Trobe University and The University of Melbourne (key partners).
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline, and evidence of participation in higher level study relevant to discipline or professional area.
  • Evidence of experience in research and evaluation and the ability to work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
  • A record of contribution to publications, conference papers and/or reports, or professional or technical contributions which provide evidence of research potential.
