Visiting Research Professor, Condensed Matter / Many-Body Physics
The Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) is the world’s first institute dedicated to the design, synthesis, and application of Functional Intelligent Materials (FIMs). Its global vision is to create a platform to develop FIMs with predetermined properties and autonomous, dynamic functionalities which can respond to changing environmental conditions. I-FIM will then investigate the use of such materials for smart applications in various sectors of technology.
Our outstanding researchers and excellent facilities create an energetic environment for ground-breaking science and world-class training. We are hosted by the National University of Singapore, a globally leading research university, empowering multidisciplinary research that spans cutting-edge approaches from the biological, computational, physiochemical and engineering sciences.
I-FIM has an opening for Visiting Research Professor for outstanding candidates to expand our current faculty to complement existing strengths and seed new strategic directions. The candidate is expected to work in the interface between condensed matter, many-body physics, density functional theory with machine learning and artificial intelligence.
The Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) is seeking candidate with the following experiences (proven in publications records) and qualifications:
- A PhD in Physics.
- At least 25 years academic experience in research in condensed matter theory, many-body physics, and (time-dependent) density functional theory.
- Distinguished publication records.
At NUS, the health and safety of our staff and students are one of our utmost priorities, and COVID-vaccination supports our commitment to ensure the safety of our community and to make NUS as safe and welcoming as possible. Many of our roles require a significant amount of physical interactions with students/staff/public members. Even for job roles that may be performed remotely, there will be instances where on-campus presences are required.
In accordance with Singapore's legal requirements, unvaccinated workers will not be able to work on the NUS premises with effect from 15 January 2022. As such, job applicants will need to be fully COVID-19 vaccinated to secure successful employment with NUS.
