Job Description

The Duke-NUS Cancer and Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) Programme studies the causes and treatments of cancer and related diseases. The CSCB research groups have diverse programmes in both basic cancer biology and clinical-translational studies, with a special emphasis on cancers that affect the Asian community in general.

We are seeking for a Scientific Research Fellow to help us identify cancer related biomarkers and novel drug targets. The successful candidate will work on cutting-edge next generation sequencing technologies (e.g. Single-Cell genomics, ATAC-seq, ChIP-Seq etc) and functional genomic platforms including high-throughput gene editing. This role will allow you to apply your expertise in the field of cancer epigenetics and the analysis of genomics data. 

  • Perform experiments related to Cancer Epigenetics and Cancer Genomics.
  • Perform basic data analysis on genomics data.
  • Generate experimental data and be involved in manuscript writing for high impact journals publication. 
  • Deliver scientific presentations.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and scientists by contributing scientific expertise.
  • Assist Principle Investigator in grant applications.
  • Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, procurement of reagent, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

Job Requirements

  • PhD in Biology related field.
  • Entry level candidates may be considered.  
  • Experience with next generation sequencing techniques and data analysis (e.g. CRISPR-Cas9, hole-exome/whole-genome sequencing, Single cell profiling, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, RNA-seq etc) especially for human cancers will be advantageous.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g. Cell culture, Transfection/Transduction, qPCR and Cell cloning etc) preferred.  
  • Knowledge in programming skills (e.g. R or Python etc) will be advantageous. 
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently and committed team player.
  • Good scientific reading and writing skills, including generation of manuscript figures.
  • A track record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant areas to be provided.
