About us

The Fenner School of Environment & Society is one of seven schools within the College of Science. The school is interdisciplinary and has strong links into other schools across the ANU campus. The school balances research excellence and a large cohort of HDR students with excellent undergraduate and graduate education.

About the opportunity

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding mid-career academic to contribute to the School’s research, education and impact in the field of environment policy. The Senior Lecturer will contribute to curriculum renewal and lead courses relevant to environment policy.

Our ideal candidate

This position has been reserved for female identifying candidates. The filling of this position is intended to constitute a special measure and is aimed at increasing employment opportunities for women in the workplace where women have been, and continue to be, underrepresented.

We are seeking a candidate with a passion for teaching, an excellent capacity for collaborative research and outreach, and an inter-disciplinary approach to building partnerships for research and impact on environment policy.

The candidate must have a PhD in social science, human geography, or similar discipline and expertise in environmental policy of national or international relevance as demonstrated by a record of academic research or equivalent professional experience in practice.

We will highly value candidates that will enhance one of the areas of strategic focus for the school (i.e. indigenous peoples and the environment; water, soil, food; biodiversity conservation; climate and energy; forests and fires; urban sustainability; integrative methods).

Increasing the representation of academics from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds is a strategic priority for the Fenner School of Environment and Society. We strongly encourage applications from these groups.

What we offer

  • A supportive and world class work environment that will nurture your academic career and assist you in further developing your research, education and knowledge mobilisation skills.
  • Generous remuneration and conditions, including 17% superannuation and a range of benefits
