King’s Business School (KBS) is seeking to appoint an outstanding scholar to join the Public Services Management & Organisation (PSMO) subject group as Professor of Public Services Management. It is an exciting opportunity. As a new and vibrant faculty, KBS embraces the idea that organisational success must take account of all stakeholders in business and society, and it is committed to driving positive change through research and education. We are part of an internationally renowned university with a track-record of pioneering thinking and a desire to stimulate cross-faculty collaborations. Situated in the heart of London, we are able to draw on rich and extensive opportunities for partnership with London’s businesses, policymakers, entrepreneurs and change-makers. It is a setting conducive to collaboration and innovation, working towards the aim of King’s College London to make the world a better place.

KBS is distinctive amongst business schools in having a group devoted to public services management and organisation. PSMO explores some of the most complex and pressing issues faced by both professionals and the organisations providing public services. In particular, we examine how contemporary developments - in policy, regulation and technology - are managed by professionals and public service organisations. We address these concerns by considering the ways in which organisations are rooted in broader social and political systems, structures, processes and practices. The group is inclusive and interdisciplinary, and members conduct research ranging from in-depth qualitative analyses, through to large-scale labour market studies. PSMO has a strong track record in securing external research funding and is committed to ensuring that our research has impact beyond the academy.

The successful candidate will be a scholar with an international reputation and will be recognised as having made a significant contribution to the field of public services management. The post holder will be expected to strengthen the Business School's research capacity, with a track record of publications in relevant, high-quality journals. The successful candidate should also have experience of leading funded research projects and a commitment to developing new ones. The Group runs a highly regarded MSc in Public Policy & Management, and contributes to the full suite of undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education courses within the Business School. The post holder should expect to make a key contribution to teaching and supervision on the MSc.

The incoming Professor should be keen to contribute to the academic leadership of the group, and to work with other group members to enhance our teaching and research activities. King’s Business School is ambitious and offers scope for new developments. Therefore, a willingness to build networks, support the delivery of high-performing teaching programmes, promote interdisciplinarity and research excellence, and ensure student satisfaction, are all highly desirable. And the post is open to an outstanding scholar with a specialist interest in public service management, professions and organisations, whether they are currently based in a business school or any other relevant department or faculty.

King's is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and through this appointment it is our aim to develop candidate pools that include applicants from all backgrounds and communities. We particularly encourage applications from women, people from black and minority ethnic communities, the LGBT+ community and from people with disabilities.

This post will be offered on an indefinite  contract
