Teaching Fellow in Counselling (0.6 FTE, Fixed-Term until 31st July 2023)

We are pleased to be able to offer a Teaching Fellow in Counselling position tenable until the 31st July 2023

The School of Human Sciences has recently re-located in the fantastic and newly refurbished Dreadnought building on the World Heritage site at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. This move, along with the creation of new lab facilities, is part of significant investment in the School and part of a long-term plan to build internationally leading research and teaching in the Faculty. As part of this investment, we are looking to appoint dynamic and engaged colleagues to help grow and develop the School.

You will be joining a School and Faculty that is building a strong interdisciplinary and cross-professional approach to solving the grand challenges facing society. We are looking for a colleague who will have a commitment to maintaining and building the University’s excellence in teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The University of Greenwich is committed to the continued development of teaching in Counselling which is located in the School of Human Sciences in the Faculty of Education and Health. The University is particularly proud to have offered the MSc in Therapeutic Counselling for 25 years and the programme has just been successfully reaccredited by BACP. The MSc Therapeutic Counselling is well established in the University and highly respected both locally and nationally for its innovative approach to relational, integrative counselling.

We welcome applications from individuals with an appreciation of Integrative Counselling with a focus on Clarkson’s Relational Model. Applicants will ideally be accredited/registered with BACP/UKCP. As a Faculty we also welcome candidates whose research work will resonate with one or more new interdisciplinary Faculty Research Centres within the newly formed Institute for Lifecourse Development:

Centre for Chronic Disease and Ageing
Centre for Exercise Activity and Rehabilitation
Centre for Inequalities
Centre for Mental Health
Centre for Professional Workforce Development
Centre for Thinking and Learning
Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families

Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Russell Luyt (Head of School); email: and telephone: 020 8331 8867.

We look forward to applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate a passion for and a clear commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion as well as the mission, values and aspirations of the University.
