The Australian National University (ANU) is seeking to appoint an outstanding Chief, Research and Innovation Services.

The Research and Innovation Portfolio (R&I Portfolio) is responsible for the leadership, governance and overall strategic direction of research, the higher degree research (HDR) program, innovation and commercialisation, and research support activities. The priorities for the R&I Portfolio encompass leadership and effective governance of research and innovation endeavours at ANU and supporting the positioning of the University as a strong national resource.

Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), The Chief will lead and manage the Office of Research and Innovation. They will be responsible for the delivery of research services for the University, in consultation and cooperation with the College Research Offices. They will also lead and be responsible for the delivery of translation and commercialisation services relating to University research. The Chief will take a leading role in shaping the research strategies that underpin the ANU strategic agenda and aspirations as outlined in the ANU by 2025 strategic plan.

The successful candidate will have: the ability to conceptualise, develop, promote, implement and review University-wide research and commercialisation strategies, and proven experience in current national and international research policy issues and challenges in research development practices within the higher education sector. They will have a respectful interpersonal style and high levels of energy, passion and resilience.
